Kelly Owen Le Roux, MA, CCC-SLP, is a licensed and certified Speech-Language Pathologist with more than 10 years of experience. Kelly provides gender affirming voice therapy and medical voice therapy privately for private pay clients throughout the state of California through telepractice (e.g., Google Meet).  Her areas of clinical interest are acquired brain injury, return to work/school after brain injury, gender affirming voice therapy and therapy for voice disorders.

Kelly began acting at the age of 7, and grew up performing in theaters throughout California. Kelly credits this experience for teaching her how beautifully one’s body and voice can be expressions of identity. While pursuing her undergraduate degree in Dramatic Arts at UC Santa Barbara, Kelly first learned of the field of Speech Pathology. In Speech Pathology, she found a career that combined all she knew about the body from performance with another love, science. While an undergraduate, Kelly was immediately drawn to the subspeciality of gender affirming voice training.

She received her Master’s Degree from George Washington University, which is where Kelly first began serving gender diverse clients. Research from her thesis, “Comparing Self-perceptions to Subjective and Objective Measures of Femininity in Transgender Speakers,” was published in the International Journal of Transgenderism and The Journal of Voice. Kelly also presented her research at The World Professional Association for Transgender Health’s 21st Biennial Symposium in Oslo, Norway.

After graduation, Kelly went to work rehabilitating patients with neurologic impairments and voice disorders in the hospital setting. During this time, she expanded her experience with specialty trainings in head and neck cancer, McNeill Dysphagia Therapy Program, Videostroboscopic evaluation and interpretation, and vocal rehabilitation. But her desire to continue her work with transgender clients never left her, and in 2016, she returned to this area of care. In 2020, Kelly founded Amplified Voice & Speech Therapy. Amplified Voice & Speech focuses on gender affirming voice training, medical voice therapy and neurorehabilitation through an accessible telehealth platform. By providing services via telehealth, clients from across the state can work with Kelly using their own phone or computer.

Kelly is a sought-after speaker, who has presented at the local, national and international levels on topics ranging from gender affirming voice training to voice therapy to treatment of cognitive disorders after brain injury.
